Today I discovered Readdle Documents in the App Store which although being billed as a document handling app includes a browser that allows the download of files and their subsequent playback.
Simply press and hold on the little down arrow in the thread and an option to download the link appears
Once it’s downloaded you can use the built in media player while you continue to browse and download other files
